Macroscopic Description: Cecilia Satterwhite
This carbonaceous chondrite has 75% fractured, black fusion crust. The exterior surface is vesicular and pitted, some areas are frothy. Areas without fusion crust are black with tiny white/gray specks. The interior is a dark gray to black fine-grained matrix with abundant small white/cream colored inclusions/chondrules.
Thin Section (,2) Description: Tim McCoy and Linda Welzenbach
The section consists of small, minimally-altered chondrules (up to 1 mm), mineral grains and CAIs set in a black matrix; metal and sulfide grains are present. Olivine compositions are Fa1-44, orthopyroxene is Fs3. The meteorite is a CM2 chondrite.
