Original Classification CM2 Chondrite
Macroscopic Description - Roger Harrington and Kathleen McBride
Fractured, dull black fusion crust covers the exterior surface. Areas without fusion crust are a chocolate brown. The interior is a dark gray to black fine grained matrix with some white, tan and gray chondrules/inclusions.
Thin Section (,2) Description - Cari Corrigan, Tim McCoy and Linda Welzenbach
The meteorites are so similar that a single description suffices. The sections consist of a few small chondrules (up to 0.5 mm), mineral grains and CAIs set in a black matrix; rare metal, sulfide and carbonate grains are present. Olivine compositions are Fa1-55; pyroxene is Fs1-6. Aqueous alteration of the matrix is substantial, but the chondrules are only modestly altered. The meteorites are CM2 chondrites.
