Macroscopic Description - Kathleen McBride
Only 5% of the exterior has shiny black fusion crust. The interior is a gray and tan matrix with vugs and white, black, gray and tan clasts.
Thin Section Description (,2) - Tim McCoy
The section shows a groundmass of comminuted pyroxene and plagioclase (up to 0.5 mm) with fine to coarse-grained basaltic clasts ranging up to 2 mm. Impact melt glass, including melt spherules, is present. Pyroxene exhibits a broad range of compositions (Fs60Wo6 to Fs27Wo42) and many grains exhibit twinning. The Fe/Mn ratio of the pyroxene is ~30. Plagioclase is ~An88Or0.2. The meteorite is a howardite. |
