Macroscopic Description - Kathleen McBride
Purplish fusion crust with polygonal fractures covers 40% of the exterior surface. The interior is a black matrix with a 2 mm thick brown oxidation rind. Light colored chondrules are visible.
Thin Section Description (,2) - Cari Corrigan, Tim McCoy, Linda Welzenbach
The section consists of a few small chondrules (up to 0.5 mm), mineral grains and CAIs set in a black matrix; rare metal, sulfide and carbonate grains are present. Olivine compositions are Fa1-40. Aqueous alteration of the matrix is substantial, but the chondrules are only modestly altered. The meteorite is a CM2 chondrite. |
