Macroscopic Description - Mitchell Haller
Matte black exterior with patchy steel coat fusion crust on 10% of surface. Some evaporites are visible. This carbonaceous chondrite has a black matrix.
Thin Section Description (,2) - Cari Corrigan, Tim McCoy
The section consists of a few small remnant chondrules (up to 0.5 mm) and mineral grains are set in a black matrix; rare metal and sulfide grains are present. Olivine compositions are Fa0-23. Aqueous alteration of the matrix and chondrules is substantial, with chondrules largely replaced. The meteorite is a CM1/2 chondrite. |
