The Lunar Explorers Digest has been established to review books on lunar and related exploration. Book reviews and synopses of books are being posted electronically on the homepage of the International Lunar Exploration Working Group. The editors for this book review project are Chuck Meyer, Roy Kouda, Peter Eckart and Maria Perino.

Books on Lunar Science, Engineering, Exploration, Education, History and Fiction are all appropriate as long as they contribute to an understanding of the Lunar Exploration. A list of appropriate books is already posted, but other books may be added based on reviews submitted. Multiple reviews may be posted for some books.

Everyone interested in lunar exploration will be invited to contribute a review. The goal of the project is to have more people participate. Reviews by students, retired space workers, interested public will be considered, along with those from active professionals. It is important to start the project with some excellent reviews that will serve as examples. For this reason, the project is being announced to the professional community first, but by the end of the summer, we expect to announce it more broadly. Let's show the international space agencies that we are vitally interested in future lunar exploration.

It will be interesting to see what others have to say about lunar exploration - past, present and future. What books should a new program manager in charge of lunar exploration read first? What books should a student contemplating a career in lunar exploration read first? What lessons have been learned by previous missions? What does a reader think other lunar explorers need to know about a given book?
