About 10% of the exterior of this meteorite is covered with a black, vesicular fusion crust that exhibits mosaic fracturing. There are a few white specs that might be evaporites. The exposed surface is dark grey-green-brown with white inclusions visible and is heavily fractured. The fresh interior has a black matrix with small (<0.5 mm) white and light grey inclusions. There is a white substance along some fractures that could be evaporites. The whole rock has a very crumbly texture. |
The sections both consist of a few small chondrules (up to 0.5 mm), mineral grains and CAIs set in a black matrix; rare metal and sulfide grains are present. Olivine compositions are Fa1-48 with a peak at Fa1-2, pyroxene is Fs1-31. Aqueous alteration of the matrix is substantial. Meteorites are similar enough that one description suffices and are likely paired. The meteorites are CM2 chondrites. |
