Macroscopic Description - Cecilia Satterwhite, Rachel Funk
The exterior is 60% covered with black fusion crust that is glassy in some areas. There are radiating flow lines in the fusion crust. There are some small orange rust spots on the fusion crust (~1 mm in size). The exposed surface is a gray matrix with abundant white inclusions throughout. There is a black vein running through the exposed surface. The fresh interior has a light gray to tan matrix with abundant white inclusions. Minor amounts of rust are in the matrix.
Thin Section Description (,2) - Cari Corrigan, Tim McCoy
These sections are similar enough to suggest that they represent a single, coarse-grained, cataclastized, brecciated, cumulate eucrite. The sections are composed of coarse (up to 2 mm) pyroxene and plagioclase crosscut by numerous offset fractures. Mineral compositions are homogeneous with orthopyroxene (Fs63-66Wo2), with lamellae of augite (Fs20-29Wo52-66), and plagioclase (An88-92Or0.5). The Fe/Mn ratio of the pyroxene is ~31. The meteorites are polymict eucrites.
